NEW SCRIPT IDEA ALERT!!!

This is going to be a shorter post since I'm only sharing the beginnings of an idea I had for my next major writing project. I'm also just excited!! After finishing and submitting NOW SPELL to several competitions, I've lowkey felt a hunger for that kind of grind again: the week of scriptwriting, editing, and on-the-minute changes that I got to experience working on a project with a clear goal, a clear deadline, and a solid vision.     But here's the problem: I had no other ideas on what to write about! While I finally found a creative spark I could harness into actual writing, I had somehow lost the flow of random ideas for scripts that I've had for years, but never felt strongly enough to follow through on. At least, it was this way for a month or two, until the last day of my trip to Argentina. In a somewhat inconvenient setting, inspiration had struck me like a bag of bricks, and I knew I had mere minutes before the idea faded away. So I politely excus...

My Thoughts on The Bear (so far)

Image
For months now I have been HOUNDED by friends, family, and strangers online to watch Hulu's "The Bear". And for months I have resisted the pleading recommendations by putting it off for another day. With the third season debuting just last week, my family in particular was very adamant on me watching it with them. Well, since I have recently fallen very sick and haven't been able to get out of the house as much, I finally swallowed my stubbornness and sat down to watch the Bear in full with my sister, and proceeded to binge the entire thing (well, at least up till halfway through the newest season at the time of writing) in the span of a week. And honestly? The show is alright!      To give a quick synopsis for those unfamiliar with The Bear, the show balances an ENORMOUS ensemble cast of people working at a local Chicago restaurant, The Beef. However, if I had to name specific "main characters", I would place Carmy, Sydney, and Richie as the character...

The Insanity of the Deltarune Woody Theory

Image
As a quick disclaimer before you read this blog post, I am warning you that this is a peek into the absolute insanity that is the Deltarune community. While I am deeply invested in this community and the discourse within it, I need to clarify that I am of somewhat alright mental stability.         Before reading this blog post (which is nonsensical enough as is), I recommend reading my other Deltarune blog post to have some context for the discussion of the theory below. Otherwise, this might just read like the ramblings of a lunatic.     As I mentioned towards the end of my post surrounding the discourse about the prospective Deltarune Chapter 3 secret boss, while there are varying interpretations and ideas for what the next installment's secret boss might be, I personally have a favorite theoretical boss. This is because of an appreciation for the concept itself, a respect for the in-depth analysis of Deltaru...

Mini Review: Inside Out 2!

Image
Before I start my review on Inside Out 2, I want to quickly establish the idea of a "mini review" in the context of my blog. Something I've noticed in my writing is that sometimes, I'm too wordy and I end up using too many words when few word do trick. In an effort to practice being more concise, I'm placing a 1000 word limit on any "mini review" I do in the future. Hopefully this ends up being beneficial to my writing and your reading experience!           If you have young family members or like watching animated movies yourself, then the name "Inside Out" is instantly recognizable as the 2015 hit movie that centered around Riley, a young girl whose family just moved to San Francisco, and the personification of her emotions within her, including Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. The movie tackles the complexity of dealing with a range of emotions in the face of change and ends with a pretty deep message about how every emotion is...

John Rambles About Deltarune Secret Bosses

Image
As a quick disclaimer before you read this blog post, I am warning you that this is a peek into the absolute insanity that is the Deltarune community. While I am deeply invested in this community and the discourse within it, I need to clarify that I am of somewhat alright mental stability.      Alright. I have been itching to write about Deltarune for a while  now, but never quite found the right subject to focus a blog post around. This is because I'm frankly a gigantic nerd when it comes to this game and its fan community, as it is one of the most creative, insane, and talented fan communities I've seen for a game. For those unaware, Deltarune is an indie RPG (RPG means Role-Playing Game) created by Toby Fox and his team, which follows Kris, Susie, and Ralsei as they go on adventures within new "dark worlds", which are essentially pocket dimensions. Besides being a generally well-written, funny, and interesting game to play, I've personally bee...

Deep Rock Galactic Season 5: Digging Deeper

Image
Deep Rock Galactic is a game that, if you're a real co-op multiplayer gamer, needs no introduction. But if you aren't one, here's the basic premise: You and your dwarf coworkers must descend to the hostile planet of Hoxxes IV in order to carry out missions ordered by your employer, Deep Rock Galactic (which is an interplanetary mining operation). As you execute the orders given by mission control, you and your fellow dwarves must navigate dangerous terrain, combat lethal bug-like enemies, and explore the deep cave networks below the planet's surface.     I've been a big fan of DRG for a couple of years now, in part to its fun, cooperative gameplay, but also largely due to the incredible art direction and positive fanbase that the game has made for itself. The developer studio, Ghost Ship Games, remains one of the best indie game studios I've known, with very criticism-receptive devs and an overall emphasis on maintaining a positive community through listen...

Celebrating Granny's 90th!

Image
Hello!     Even though you can't tell when you're reading this, it's been almost a month since I wrote my last blog post! How come? Well, I have been visiting Buenos Aires with my family for just under two weeks, spending time with both sides of my extensive family. Though we did a lot of stuff with our cousins and family throughout the trip, there was one main reason that we chose to visit Argentina this year: it was my paternal grandma's 90th birthday!     As soon as we touched down in Buenos Aires right after our flight, we quickly dropped off most of our luggage and bags at my Abu's house (maternal grandmother), then met up with my uncle Bernardo to pick up a rental car for my family that we would use to get to the house we rented for the weekend in the countryside of Argentina. It should  have been about a 2 hour drive, but it quickly stretched into a four hour journey on account of a 90 minute traffic jam, plus an underestimation of how rough and unk...

Loudermilk is A Show

Hey! I've been taking it pretty easy in the days working up to our family trip to Buenos Aires for a while, so that's meant I've had a lot of time at home, not really doing much besides hanging out with family. Me and my family, we aren't the sport type, or the dinner party type, but what we always spend the most time together doing is watching TV. I don't care if its a very on-the-nose activity of the average American household, but I really enjoy getting to be comfy on the couch, side-by-side with my parents, sister, and dog, and just watch whatever is on TV nowadays (or at least, whatever is most enticing on the streaming platform we have).     Since I've been home for about a month, my Mom and sister are still at work/ at school, so I've had a lot of time to kill with my Dad. I've enjoyed just hanging out, learning how to grill/cook, and watching the news and politics on YouTube with him, but we never really had anything to sit down and do as a...

Tapping Into My Inner White Boy

Image
Hey! I have about 1 week before I leave to Buenos Aires for a couple of weeks, and to fill up my schedule with fun stuff to do, I decided to try out a few risky plans just to see what would happen, and potentially discover a new fun thing to do while I'm down at home for the summer! One of the first things that came to mind was scrolling through the @peakacity Instagram Reels, since they frequently post about different activities to do around South Florida. Sadly the reel is taken down now, but I found a really interesting Country night at a brewery in Homestead!     Now, I've never been to a country night before. I didn't know jack about line dancing or country songs or anything. So I had to go in with people who were equally clueless so I wouldn't make a fool of myself. I texted my buddies Sebi, Angelo, and Brandon, and once they agreed to the gamble on our Friday nights, we were locked in to experience the whitest, most country-est night of our lives th...
