When The Company Is Lethal

If there's one thing that is known about me, I'd like to think that its how much I enjoy spending time with my friends. I count myself very lucky to have met the people I have and clicked with them so early into my life, as many go years searching for "their people" and some never find them. Fortunately for me, I was both lucky enough to meet my friends very early on in my life, and also born during a time where it has never been easier to stay in touch with friends, regardless of physical distance between us. There used to be a fear that with college splitting us up, we'd drift apart, but thanks to modern technology, I feel like they never left my side, since I talk with my friends in different colleges pretty much every day!

Through it all, online gaming has been what kept our group from unraveling. We all have pretty different majors, interests, and schedules, but the one constant throughout all of us has been gaming. As corny as it sounds, I don't think we would have the relationship we have if it weren't for those nightly gaming sessions, where we could be yelling at each other in frustration or yelling at enemy players. I've already talked about how playing League of Legends has been the main game that's kept us together, but today I wanted to talk about a game called Lethal Company.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Lethal Company is a multiplayer cooperative game where players visit alien planets with abandoned industrial facilities, and are tasked with retrieving as much scrap as possible to their ship before the day is over (or before everyone dies). On these planets, players will face environmental threats, traps, and monsters of every variety imaginable. However, the greatest threat players face is their own teammates, since it's pretty funny to kill your teammates on purpose, regardless of how this jeopardizes the mission.

This game already encourages stupid groups of friends to play the game, either for the satisfaction of clearing out the facility of scrap efficiently like a well-oiled machine, or for the chaotic fun of seeing how gruesome the deaths of their teammates can be. And for us personally, the addition of several fan-made mods to the game adds a ton of even goofier content for us to lose our minds at, like for example an immortal snail that makes you blow up when you touch it.

I won't keep yapping about it too much, but bottom line is that by playing these games with my friends, I've laughed the hardest in weeks, and I've been able to continue to have these friendships that make me so happy. If you're interested in seeing the raw stupidity of me and my friends, check out this video or this video!
